Disneys Owl House finale delivers a perfect ending

Of course, not before Luz attempts, once again, to find something cool to say to Belos, as all main characters should during the final battle. Sadly she is unable to find the words, and instead, after gathering herself, Eda, King, and The Collector in a magical ball of glyphs and flying high into the air, the battle begins. There are also so many callbacks to things and awesome moments between characters; two of my favorites are when Luz and King both do the Sonic Shout together or when she and Eda make one big magic circle. While they’re doing all of this, among other things, the fungus is replaced with red grass. Also, away from the battle, The Collector is helping rescue everyone from the Archives by holding it up, as they and the main trio see it starting to fall earlier during the fight. Back in the Archive House, Camila is freed from her puppet form by the kids.

The Collector promised to try his best, but realized he had a lot of growing up to do. Everyone got their happy endings, but Luz discovers the glyphs no longer work due to the Titan giving up all his energy. As one last surprise, King reveals the Collector was in the area and wanted to do something special for Luz. King brings Luz to the edge of the cliff, where across the sky a light show of shooting stars appears, for Luz and her friends to watch. As they watch the spectacle, Luz expresses a heartfelt thanks to Eda and King for their support during these years. As the light show nears its end and the Collector is about to leave, Luz and the rest of the party all shout a final farewell towards the sky and the viewer.

She mistakes the Titan for King at first before the Titan introduces himself as King's father and the Titan of the Boiling Isles, which leads Luz to believe that she is also dead. The Titan clarifies that Luz is only partially dead, but will die if she sinks below the waters of the realm. Although Luz is surprised to finally meet King's father, she ponders where they are and how it is possible. The Titan explains that the realm is the space in-between realms, and his spirit has been here for a long time, using the dimension's cubes to watch over his son.

As he says this, rain clouds form above them and the boiling rain starts melting "Philip" while Luz is unharmed. With every drop of rain dissolving him, a desperate "Philip" begs Luz for forgiveness, but Luz is unmoved. Luz remains silent and steps back, letting the trio of Raine, Eda, and King, protected underneath a leaf, approach Belos with menacing looks. The trio then spitefully stomp Belos to death, ending the emperor for good.

Unfortunately, we don’t find out what it is at this point since King’s dad whispers it to Luz. All we know at this point is that “He’ll love that.” Suddenly Luz sees King’s father sink into the water and sees his giant form towering above her. Of course, this is a Disney Channel show, so this death isn’t permanent. And the episode gives this Disney Death just enough time to feel impactful, but doesn’t drag it out so it’s a gotcha moment five seconds before the end. Eda and King’s sorrow turns to rage as they lash out at Emperor Belos.

With Belos' corruption spreading across his body, he offers his remaining life force to help Luz defeat Belos once and for all. Though hesitant at first, Luz eventually accepts the Titan's offer and is granted his powers. As a magic sphere forms around Luz to take her back to the demon realm, the Titan warned that his powers won't last long, so she would need to defeat Belos swiftly. However, Luz is more concerned over what he wanted to say to King. The Titan whispers something in her ear before transforming into a massive skeleton and sinks into the void, biding her a final farewell.

Vee is with Owlbert outside the room, where she tells Owlbert it is time to "go get the others". He flies to the old house, now renovated and under ownership of the Nocedas. The door is now a portal to the Boiling Isles created by the Collector, opening for Owlbert to fly through.

Most of the emotional groundwork has already been laid this season. This episode uses all of that as a launchpad, catapulting Luz back to Eda and King as they save the day. “Watching and Dreaming,” the final episode of The Owl House, doesn’t hold back on the emotional punches. In fact, what really seals the deal is one particularly devastating moment that the show pulls off with particular finesse. It’s a risky, well-worn trope that is somehow treaded perfectly — and with it, the finale takes on a level of poignance that elevates the already great show to new levels.

Amity and the rest of Luz’s friends are shell-shocked in the moments before they rally. Most heartbreakingly, Luz’s mother Camila — who is still trapped in a frozen puppet form — sheds a tear. The epilogue starts immediately after Belos dies, and The Titan’s magic leaves Luz’s body, with the main trio lying together on the grass, Luz in between them. Finally, we find out what King’s dad whispered to Luz; “I loaf you.” A bread pun!

With all that in mind, I quite enjoyed the finale and thought it was wonderful. I love where all the characters ended up after the time skip, especially everything Hunter related, and I love that they managed to get rid of the sigils. Outside of the show itself, I love that they managed to say goodbye to both The Collector and us at the same time.

Luz tells him she had hoped the Collector would blast Belos away, and the Titan relates about how he tried to keep his own son safe, and shows guilt for attacking the wrong person. Luz then asks if trying to save their families makes them as bad as Belos, who was trying to save humanity. However, the Titan states that their ambitions don't come from the same place as Belos', who doesn't care about anything but his deluded belief he is the hero and his fear of losing control.

The Collector asks Luz how she was able to befriend the witches of the Isles, and she explains that it takes kindness and forgiveness. As she demonstrated the ice glyph, the Collectors remarks that the Titan must favor her enough to share the glyphs. Suddenly, they hear a rumbling sound that resembles breathing. The Titan's eye lights up, and they realize that it is Belos. Luz gets separated from her loved ones after the Collector snaps his fingers. A bright light surrounds her, and when it dissipates, she finds herself sitting on the Emperor's throne, wearing his robes.
